For over 35 years, Mr. Smith has and is actively involved in plant design and the supply of equipment to meat and food processing companies. His equipment experience extends from slaughtering through processing and packaging, both red meat and poultry. His special projects have included design and supply of equipment for various slaughtering operations. Processing equipment experience consists of size reduction, blending, stuffing/filling, smokehouses, inline cooking and chilling as well as all types of slicing and a wide variety of chamber, rollstock, and atmosphere packaging equipment. Investigated, analyzed and determined cause of origin in food contamination. Mr. Smith’s activities also involve working with various trades such as metalworking and fabricators for manufacture of custom made equipment such as cooking and drying systems; assisting with evaluation of waste water and treatment systems; assisting clients as a liaison in securing USDA and European Economic Community (EEC) inspection approvals for slaughtering and processing plants. As a consultant to the food processing industy, Mr. Smith’s responsibilities have included: • Working with various contractors as project liaison for installation and start-up. • The design and layout of state and federally inspected meat plants working with owners and local/federal inspectors to meet regulations and assist in equipment evaluation and selection. o Plant layouts for new and future expansion. • Recommending capital equipment and working with project managers to adhere to tight production schedules while at the same time maintaining sanitary conditions that comply with government regulations.
