In July, Envista's North American team grew with the addition of five new experts. These new experts join our Fire and Explosion, Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil/Structural divisions. Learn more, both personally and professionally, about our newest experts.

Meet Envista’s Newest Additions!

Zacharias Macias, PE

Project Engineer, Electrical (Los Angeles, CA)

Zacharias Macias is a Project Engineer with over six years of experience in forensics, electrical, and MEP consulting. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and specializes in electrical failure analysis and electrical power distribution design throughout multiple states. He has experience designing fire alarm systems, technology systems, project management, and cost estimating. He has experience working with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Municipal Counties, California Department of State Hospitals, educational institutions, Boeing facilities, and residential clients. He is familiar with federal, state, and local codes and was responsible for training groups of engineers-in-training in the design process at his previous MEP design firm.

Fun Fact: I own an axe-throwing business.

Alex Pollack

Project Consultant, Mechanical (Dallas, TX)

Alex Pollack is a Project Consultant with over five years of experience in HVAC design and construction codes. He is well-versed in code compliance with ASHRAE, IBC 2016, and NYC construction codes, and has experience working with various governmental agencies. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Union College and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Engineering Management at Johns Hopkins University. Alex has proficiency with software, such as AutoCAD MEP, SolidWorks, and Matlab.

Fun Fact: I am an amateur woodworker.

Mike Schatz, IAAI-CFI (V)

Consultant, Fire & Explosion (Oklahoma City, KS)

Mike Schatz is an accomplished Fire Marshal and Fire Investigator with over 15 years of experience in fire suppression, investigation, and public safety. His career began as a Firefighter and Driver with the Enid Fire Department, where he was responsible for equipment maintenance, fire suppression, and medical care, and advanced to Assistant Fire Marshal in 2013, specializing in fire origin and cause determination, code compliance, and public education. Mike has provided expert analysis and testimony across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri, and earned the Oklahoma Fire Investigator of the Year and International Investigator of the Year in 2015.

Fun Fact: I am a national trophy winner in jiu-jitsu

Cody Stephens, PE

Project Engineer, Civil/Structural (Knoxville, TN)

Cody Stephens is a Project Engineer with over eight years of experience in structural engineering. He has worked as a project manager and lead structural engineer on a range of commercial and residential structures. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and specializes in both residential and commercial construction, working with timber, concrete, and steel structures.

Fun Fact: I was once the #1 ranked player in the world in EA sports golf games.

Rick Young, Colorado POST Peace Officer, FAA UAS Pilot

Senior Consultant, Fire & Explosion (Denver, CO)

Rick Young is a Senior Consultant with expertise in fire protection and public service spanning five decades. His educational background includes dual associate degrees from Red Rocks Community College in Fire Science Technology and Criminal Justice, complemented by over 10,000 hours of continued professional training in code enforcement, hazardous materials, and incident management. He is a certified Fire Investigator with the IAAI of Colorado, an instructor/educator in Colorado, and currently serves as an Elizabeth Fire Protection District Board Member to ensure the Fire District provides an acceptable level of fire and life safety service to the community. Rick received numerous Medal of Valor awards from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Littleton Fire Department, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) for his work involving the Columbine High School response.

Fun Fact: I love wildlife and scenery photography. It's not just a hobby, but a passion.
