Mr. Chris Downing is a Senior Project Engineer with over 30 years of experience in manufacturing, energy efficiency, and the building industry. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida and has extensive mechanical engineering experience with building systems including HVAC, plumbing, energy efficiency, indoor air quality and energy recovery. This experience also includes forensic investigations in manufacturing, commercial, institutional and residential facilities, marine environment, construction management, building codes, and expert witness work. Mr. Downing has previously served as a research engineer and as Vice President & Director of the Enterprise Innovation Institute at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and led initiatives in engineering outreach, entrepreneurship support, and economic development. Mr. Downing's contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards such as the 2014 Innovation Award from the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities and the 2014 Outstanding Research Park Award from the Association of University Research Parks. Mr. Downing is also an experienced off-shore sailor with over 40 years of marine experience and holds a US Coast Guard Captain’s license.
